Age on a BD job circular: use the ‘as on’ date, not today

Government Jobs · BD Job Result · 2026

A government circular in Bangladesh does not ask «how old are you today». It asks how old you are on a date written in the PDF — often 1 January of a year, or the last day of application. That date is the knife. If you count from this week, you can apply and still be cancelled. This page is only that subtraction. Quota extra years belong in the same PDF; they are not in this article unless that PDF writes them.

Find the sentence first. It looks like: «Maximum 30 years as on 01 January 2026.» Underline «as on». Then take the date of birth on your NID. Count how many birthdays you have already had by the morning of that cutoff. A birthday that falls after the cutoff in that year has not happened yet — so that year is not completed.

A worked example, slowly

Cutoff: 1 January 2026. Born 15 March 1996. On 1 January 2026 you have not yet had your 2026 birthday. You are 29 that morning, not 30. Born 15 December 1995: you turned 30 in December 2025, so on 1 January 2026 you are 30. The board will do the same subtraction. Hope is not a method.

NID date of birth and a circular cutoff date written on two lines
  • Underline «as on» in the circular. That date, not today.
  • Use the NID date of birth. If NID and SSC certificate disagree, fix the record before you apply.
  • Birthday after the cutoff = that year is not completed yet.
  • Extra years for a quota exist only if this circular writes them. An old Facebook post does not add a year.

If the subtraction puts you over

Do not apply and hope. The same arithmetic will run without you in the room. If a relaxation is written for your quota on this post, add only those years, then subtract again. If the line is missing, there is no extra year.

Cutoff date, then birthday, then completed years. Today does not matter. Extra years exist only in that circular. If the subtraction puts you over, stop. The board will do the same subtraction without hope.
